One of my favorite sites of the ancient Rome, the Pantheon was built by Agrippa during the reign of Emperor Augustus. (27 BC – 14 AD) and rebuilt by the emperor HAdrian about 126 AD.[ Emperor Phocas gave the pagan temple to Pope Boniface IV in 608 A.D., who then transformed it into a Christian church.
The interior is majestic space centered on a curved line, highlighted by the clear light which falls from the central oculus, a huge hole in the center of the cupola (dome). This is the most interesting feature of the building, and it is said that the floors were built with a light tilt, to allow rainwater coming through the hole to slide down into the drainage system.
