This is the last throwback beachy tales. This time, we went to Cebu to celebrate my birthday in 2012. This was before I started my journey to wellness and you can very well see how much of my pregnancy weight I have retained.
Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa is a luxurious resort, covering 13 hectares of lush tropical greenery. It is located in Lapu-Lapu City, and connected to the main island of Cebu by several bridges. The resort is only around a 20-minute drive to the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
The resort is luxurious with a corresponding classy price tag. Thus, we stayed only for one night. We were unfortunate we got a room in the old wing which was undergoing construction at that time. But the room was spacious, clean, and had standard amenities of a 5-star hotel.
We had a lovely stay here. But the beach really doesn’t stand up to Boracay. Nevertheless, this is a large resort and there are a lot of activities that one can arrange, including indulging in its world-class spa. We didn’t care much for the spa, though, opting for jetskiing instead.
And just relaxing and walking around…..
We didn’t try their buffet but had ala carte lunch. It wasn’t that fantastic, just okay. I did appreciate the free birthday cake they surprised me with after our lunch:
Overall, I’d rate the experience 4 stars. Our luxury stay didn’t turn out that well because of the noise of construction. Perhaps in our next visit, we would enjoy it more.
